Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter who was born in the Netherlands in 1872 and died in New York in 1944. He is recognised as one of the pioneers of abstraction.
After starting out with figurative works, Mondrian turned to abstraction, which he sublimated throughout his life.
His aim was to create a universal art form in which he kept the colours pure (the three primary colours, red, blue and yellow), and in which the right angle played a fundamental role, since for the artist it had universal significance, the relationship between horizontal and vertical representing the duality present in the universe and in the laws of nature.
AKA Clothe has taken inspiration from his world with this illustration of Composition 2, produced in 1915.
